Madison meets McKenna and McKayla

Wednesday and Sunday are weekly Sibling Visitation Days so Madison was able to meet McKenna and McKayla for the first time Wednesday.  We were really excited for “the meet” and as anticipated they all bonded, traded cell phone numbers and worked on a secret fist-bump handshake!  Sunday they got together again and Madison was whispering with them so I think they reached a tentative agreement to band together against Sydney and I so we must watch them carefully!  Seriously though, both McKenna and McKayla seem very sweet with their own little personalities and peculiarities already taking shape.  This is going to be fun – I think!?!?!  Here are pics from “the meet”…

First pics of McKenna and McKayla

We had a great time hanging out with McKenna and McKayla in NICU the rest of last week.  We fed them a lot and talked to them daily until they drifted off - which was often!  They both lost weight initially (which is normal) but both are eating well and growing according to the doctors and to their liking.

Yesterday was a Big Day but Today has been more Difficult

Monday was a big day and was full of excitement and surprises.  The excitement started at about 3:30 AM and Sydney gave birth to 2 girls and 1 boy at 9:01 AM.  We are exhausted but what a blessing!  Here are their names and stats.

McKenna Faith weighed in at 4 lbs. and 12 oz.

McKayla Grace weighed in at 3 lbs.

Micah Langston weighed in at 3 lbs. and 9 oz.

Today, however, has been hard.  This morning we went to go see the girls and were immediately redirected to Micah ASAP because things were deteriorating.  (Micah had been in Level 3 NICU since birth getting the best treatment possible.  Early in the second trimester doctors had prepared us that Micah's low level of ambiotic fluid could indicate a problem with his kidneys and could become problematic for the development of his lungs.)  Everything the doctor's were concerned proved to be the case and unfortunately Micah passed away around 8:30 AM.

We were well prepared having received good medical counsel about Baby B's potential complications during pregnancy but today that picture became very clear.  God's plan for Micah was short but we will not forget him soon.  We can not say enough good things about the medical teams (doctors, delivery teams and NICU staff) who worked tirelessly with Micah.  It has been very touching to see how his short life has impacted so many people.  We are thankful for him and the blessing he has been to others.

McKayla and McKenna are doing really well but will need additional time in NICU to gain weight before they will be released to go home with us.  We are super thankful for their good health.

Please pray for our family as we process through all the changes we are experiencing all at one time.  We could certainly use the extra strength!!!

Sydney is Delivering Monday

Sydney is a real champ!  We are scheduled to deliver Monday, March 21, 2011.  She is now 33 1/2 weeks (wonderful by most standards for carrying triplets) and is one week from the original 34 week benchmark.

We are REALLY excited (and scared!!! :o ) about the triplets but clearly do not know exactly what to expect at delivery Monday or afterwards for that matter!  Thanks to everyone who has stepped in and helped out.  We are anxious and excited as God unveils the plan He has for our family.

Please pray for a safe delivery, good health for all the babies (specifically Baby B’s lungs and kidneys), the medical teams (doctors, delivery teams and NICU staff) as well as Madison and her transition / promotion to big sister.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Sydney is still having relatively good days - just bored out of her mind but the hospital seems to be the safest place for her to rest with around the clock care.  The latest news is that we are still planning toward a delivery the week of March 21, 2011 but as always that could change at any time.

Madison is excited and is having fun playing with friends this week with Spring Break in full swing but thankfully next week school starts back and a more regular schedule for the week the babies are born seems more orderly for everyone involved!!!

Baby A now weighs 4 lbs, 2 oz.
Baby B now weighs 3 lbs, 4 oz. and
Baby C now weighs 3 lbs, 6 oz.

PLEASE keep praying for good health for all the babies.

Where to get updates on the Babies

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  We are very blessed to have so many family and friends who all want and need updates on the babies.  As things continue to progress and especially after the babies arrive our free time will disappear so we are going to post updates here.  (Somebody remind us in 3-5 years what "free time" is?!?!?!)  Thank you all for caring and praying for us.  We can not wait to continue sharing our journey with you.  Please check in periodically for updates.  Thanks.
